The policy of fear is one of the policies that has always been implemented by the American government.

Since the events of September 11, 2001, America has been living in an atmosphere of fear and intimidation such that on any given day, new laws are approved to deal with these so-called threats. Even though Obama had promised that he would end this legacy of the Bush era and that an atmosphere of calm would prevail over America, his record has been to enact similar laws across the world. The old laws have not yet been repealed, since in recent days new claims have been raised about security threats in the United States.

American intelligence agencies have once again made claims of cyber and security attacks by China, Russia, Iran, North Korea and the like. They have also warned of terrorist attacks on American soil. American intelligence and security agencies have tried to pretend that conditions are sensitive enough in the United States that at any moment there is the eventuality of terrorist activities.

Although these claims are ancient history, the Americans’ insistence on giving them a second life can be understood from the new goals and demands that are resulting from the internal and external conditions of America. In the domestic arena of the United States, White House officials are seeking widespread suppression of popular protest, more government control over social networks and the Internet and increasing pressure on religious minorities.

In the international arena, they pursue the continuation of warfare in Afghanistan and the implementation of pressure and hostile policies against countries like Iran, Russia, China and North Korea, whom they call the enemies of America. Under such circumstances we can say that Obama is trying to revive the politics of fear and intimidation as justification for his domestic and international actions. In this respect, the aforementioned security environment is causing Obama to take new steps for his reelection campaign.

Since Obama does not have favorable conditions in the election process, he is creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation. Of course, he knows that simultaneously taking action to deal with that environment is a weapon he can use to meet the demands of his reelection.

In any case, it can be said regarding the developments in America that the leaders of this country have once again targeted the privacy and security of its citizens in order to achieve their purposes. Furthermore, they are not meeting the demands of the people, but rather they are intensifying oppression, ignoring the rights of their citizens, continuing their warmongering and their hostile policies against other countries internationally. Such affairs are an indication of ignoring human rights from a country claiming to support humanity.

This goes on while institutions claiming to support human rights remain silent concerning these actions, revealing another page in the delusion of their humanitarian claims.
