Students at Pamukkale University in Denizli, Turkey, showed their solidarity to Iraqi journalist Muntazer Al Zeydi by throwing their shoes on a poster of President George Bush. The writing under the poster read: "You can throw anything you want at him."

The organizers, members of the university’s Philosophy Club, who had arranged their “stunt” near the Education Department building, said that their aim was to support Al Zeydi. They said that it was their duty to show to the United States that Turkey could never become a second Iraq.

"We are sending our regards and our support to our brothers in Iraq," said another big banner posted nearby, which carried the signatures of those students who supported the endeavor.

Journalist Banu Avar, who was presenting a lecture in the building, also partook in the event and showed his support to the organizers.
