Drone Attacks Again under Consideration by Obama Administration
American media has claimed that an extremist targeting coalition military installations in Afghanistan is living in the tribal areas of Pakistan and that, for the purpose of killing this individual, the Obama administration is again thinking about using drone attacks in Pakistan, while air attacks and military action are also under consideration.
Following criticism by the United Nations and the international community, the Obama administration had indicated that drone attacks would cease and, in fact, drone attacks did not take place for quite a while. Now, once again the Obama administration is preparing to take military action to target a suspected American terrorist present in Pakistan; the U.S. administration is even considering giving formal permission to the CIA to use the same action.
The Obama administration should not take any step that is seen as challenging Pakistan's sovereignty. If any individual in Pakistan is wanted by the U.S., [the U.S.] needs to share information about that person with Pakistan’s intelligence agencies. Pakistan’s intelligence agencies will arrest the wanted person and hand him over to the U.S.
If the U.S. violates Pakistan's boundaries, the situation will become strained between the two countries and the plan for America's possible evacuation from Afghanistan will also receive a setback. Hence, American authorities should provide Pakistan information about the wanted individual so that our law enforcing agencies are able to play a decisive role in his arrest and, in this way, there will be no adverse effect on relations between the two countries.
