  1. An eminent Jewish author, Chaim Bermant, summed up Jewish history in this capsule, “Jews,” he sys in his must read book: “The Jews”, “were rarely in control of their destiny and where they impinged on history it was because they were in trouble or troublesome. The venture of Israel has now made them totally disillusioned. They find many a contradiction in Israel. To begin with, its creation is seriously questionable and rejected by the Rabbis. Israel’s founding father, like many Jews, was a secular Zionist. He didn’t have much liking for the Hebrew God. So he replaced the oath of allegiance to the new country from God to a symbolic “Rock of Israel.” He found God a barrier for Jews’ future, saying, “God did too little to deserve this credit.” This is a rave error in the sight of Rabbis, who tremble at the consequence of this blatant blasphemy. Take another anomaly of Israel. It has borrowed Judaism’s various symbols such as Knesset, the Flag, Hebrew script, etc. These are mere cosmetic. The Rabbis look with horror at the use and working of Knesset. Knesset used to be a place of prayer and learning of Torah. King David was a great Prophet to whom God had bestowed a kingdom and a revealed Book, mentioned in the Quran as “Zaboor.” This is popularly called “Psalms of David.’ Now make a contrast with Israel. Israel bulldozed in the holy land and desecrated it with shedding blood of innocent people with the intention of grabbing the whole of Palestine. Jews are no strangers to heavenly retributions. In the past it used to be defiance of the apostles. But abandoning God and not so kindly is reminiscent to the episode of the Golden Calf or even worse.
I am a great admirer of Jews and marvel at their twelve consecutive centuries of a golden age when they lived and thrived in the Umayyad Spain and when they fell under oppression from Ferdinand, the Ottomans gave them a welcome and in fact sent Turkish ships to haul the Jews in safety from Spain. Jews have never lived and thrived in one place as they did in Sarajevo for four centuries. Their sojourn with the Turks has no parallel.
