Only A Miracle

One week away from an unprecedented historical presidential election, the lonely John McCain is longing for another miracle. However, the war pilot who cold be qualified as a miraculously saved man probably has run out of benedictions.

No one, either in the Republican or Democratic party, even though among the neutral observers, sincerely believes that a prodigy’s about to happen.

Oh, a few of them still hope for it or fear it because it’s John McCain and anything can be expected from him. Neither hope nor fear have are rational.

What’s left except for supernatural maybe? The most obvious sign of the “Straight Talk Express”: the machine is getting down so much that its panic-stricken passengers slaughter each other searching at the same time who could be accused of guilt. The McCain campaign looks like a firing squad … forming a circle.

Even though during his best moment, John McCain’s environment never looked like an island of peace and reserve. This phenomenon is directly bound to the impetuous personality of the character himself. Not to mention a troublesome tendency to make sudden, often risky, decisions, with no previous related discussions. McCain is comparable with Moses going down Mount Sinaï. We kind of thought this intern perpetual din was simply a normal part of a McCain campaign.

Palin, the target

A brand new fact turned these last days the funny entertainment a little weird one. John McCain’s trustworthy strategists started talking nonsense to the media. In an anonymous way of course. Just as if things were not bad enough, with eight or nine marks behind Obama in the polls.

What is even worse, this masters of deceit, who could look crazy if they weren’t so petty, have found themselves a scapegoat named Sarah Palin, McCain’s fellow candidate to the presidency.

This woman who had shown them the way to the White House two months ago. This same woman who gave (and still does) McCain the possibility to gain immense crowds he wouldn’t even have dreamed of.

She’s accused of being a selfish diva, who never listens to what other people have to say. This means her own race to the leadership of the Republican party in 2012. If this is way to happen, if the diabolical Palin presently refuses to listen to the valuable advice from the campaign’s big shots, this means she’s fairly more brilliant than her detractors would make it believe.

Never, in recent history, a political woman had been so harshly held up to ridicule, an intellectual nobody. The truth is, Sarah Palin has been a source of fright and anxiety for the Democrats since she has appeared on the political scene. She wasn’t called a bimbo but this was clearly implied.

And what about the main leaders of the Republican campaign? Why are they so surprised that she doesn’t want to listen to them?

Automatic Calls

What is she being reproached after all? In the first place, she deplored that McCain’s campaign incorrectly used these awful “robo-calls”. This deals with automatic phone calls in series.

The robot-telephone is programmed to reach about almost anything looking like a number in the phone-book. Every time you answer the phone, a tin-sounded like voice tells you terrible stories about Obama. For example, him meeting an American terrorist who was known in 1960, Bill Ayers, and who has been a distinguished Professor at the University of Chicago for a long time. He then exploded bombs to demonstrate against the Vietnam war. The accusation of him being a terrorist is a pretty far-fetched one and doesn’t really match an electorate who is far less naive than one may think.

The “robo-calls” nevertheless kept going, often conveying ignominies that the candidate wouldn’t have dared uttering out loud. A very mean type of politics. Quite disturbing too, similar to the calls you get from collecting agents.

Palin had actually been given the mission to denounce Obama’s association with Ayers, but we now know from one of these strategists that Palin disagreed with such a method and didn’t believe that the campaign would be a honest one. She was right on both this level and the robo-calls. In spite of everything, Palin still has a lot of people coming to her meetings.

Honestly, the major mess of McCain’s campaign has nothing to do with Sarah Palin. She’s more one of the main reasons which enabled him to go on campaigning. Basically, McCain can’t be blamed either.

It’s true that his recent speeches were rather messy ones, skipping from one subject to another, his campaign therefore seemed to lose its bearing. There’s an impression this time that McCain wants to make it work, he’s in deep despair and anything’s better than a massive disorganization.

What would be detrimental to McCain is the American economical disaster and a candidate who’s undoubtedly much stronger than him. During a masterpiece campaign, Obama made a fun of the most powerful electoral machine of the modern times. The Republican bulldozer was defeated by his team. A few observers keep claiming that the election result will be a close one.

Quite difficult to believe when John McCain is even more trying to get votes from Virginia, Colorado, Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin and maybe Indiana. Many people are still hesitating, their percentage is between 7 percent and 8 percent, but nothing’s for sure.
