Lee Harvey Oswald II and the Arizona Gunshots

Will Obama be next?

It’s a bit like a remake of Dallas. Or maybe a trailer for a new Dallas. These shots weren’t fired at the black John F. Kennedy, but at one of his most important frontline female soldiers, Gabrielle Giffords. And the scene this time was Arizona; like the Dallas of 1963, apparently a cauldron of hatred toward a president who wanted to do things differently than his right-wing Republican opponent.

And there might have been more than one involved, the sheriff tells us. And there may be the brains behind the shooter in the dim background. Back then it was Dulles and his CIA or perhaps Hoover and his FBI. Now it might be Sarah Palin. Then there’s the shooter who ran amok; other than his lunacy, he was just a regular guy.

The whole thing has a feeling that it could all have been cooked up by the 9/11 conspiracy theorists or is just part of idle barroom chat. But beware: Oswald wasn’t some loony right-wing radical. He was a commie that the intelligence services managed to turn around. A confused loner, he was the perfect candidate to run amok. All he needed was a gun (and an accomplice who could actually shoot straight).

It’s entirely possible that a campaign against the truth might begin with such a profile of the shooter.

Obama has to watch out now. He could be next. Even here in Germany there are smart people who oppose Obama for stupid reasons. People! Our enemies are the neo-conservatives, the global fascists. Obama still hasn’t started a war with Iran and they blame him for that. He might not have ended Bush and Cheney’s world war, but he hasn’t expanded it. In fact he has significantly reined it in, and they blame him for that, too.

They want him out of the picture. By violence, if necessary.
