When I Say I Am a Muslim, I Shiver!

Former American President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice have not only never apologized for the jet and drone attacks, but show delight in this oppression and barbarianism. Now, the current Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, must take pleasure and feel pride in attacking innocent people and that so far 36,000 innocent Pakistani citizens and 5,000 soldiers have been killed.

The heartbreaking fact is that the government of Pakistan is officially supporting this oppression and barbarianism and is continually adopting American policies. We are surprised and embarrassed that on May 2, Americans attacked Abbottabad and martyred Osama bin Laden. Was the whole nation, including the armed forces, sleeping? And so the Americans were able to do their deed boldly and without fear. All this is going on in atomic Pakistan. Who was behind the attack on Karachi’s naval base Mehran? This attack is like a slap in the face of Pakistan’s pride, independence and security.

The policies adopted by President Gen. Musharraf were, due to his “prudence” or “daring,” those of a so-called Muslim, who was the president of Islamic Republic of Pakistan and was the independent president of a nuclear Pakistan. Just take a look at America’s perversion, especially considering that Pakistan is the only ally in the world that is sacrificing all of its objectives and interests to American policies. Just like the incident in Lahore in which Raymond Davis (maybe that is his real name, maybe not), who was working as a spy for Blackwater or perhaps Inter Risk or some other dangerous American agency, killed three Pakistani citizens in broad daylight. It is the height of American shamelessness that they got him released and had him transported to America respectably. Tell me under which Vienna Convention was Aarfa Siddiqqi arrested? And she had an illegal trial and was even sentenced. Under which international law does America have the right to arrest and take any Pakistani citizen to America and punish her there? Is it not violating Pakistan’s independence and sovereignty?

Did Alama Iqbal ever recommend his Muslim Ummah to accept slavery? If such views had been prevalent then perhaps Pakistan would not even have come into existence. Majeed Nizami has several times said that God willing our atomic bombs and atomic missiles will show their worth, and the Devilish unity’s pants will become wet. The reason I am talking about it is that, with the help of supersonic cameras, Americans can see an ant at the bottom of the sea, but they cannot find al-Qaida or the Taliban? If America thinks that it can trick Pakistani leaders into giving up control of their nuclear assets, then it is America’s mistake: it is not possible. When will the Pakistani people wake up and realize their responsibilities? Hopefully soon, before it is too late. The whole world would tremble if we woke from our slumbering subservience to America. Allama Iqbal wrote the following beautiful verse in regards to the Muslim Ummah, “I wish the Muslim Ummah’s rulers would be able use their intellect…” and that goes especially for Pakistani government’s esteemed leaders.

When I say I am a Muslim, I shiver!

For I understand the magnitude of hardships hidden in the words ‘no god but God!

(Part of a poem by Alama Iqbal)
