Radical Right: An Eminent Power

Harry Reid, U.S. Senate majority leader from the Democratic Party, says that the budget cuts agreement is the most recent consequence of uncontrolled national expenditure. In reality, it’s a big step toward the radical right’s consolidation of power. This group within the Republican Party (known as the tea party) plays a huge role in maintaining fiscal exemptions for the top 1 percent of earners in the United States who control 40 percent of the nation’s wealth; they are the same who have passed anti-immigration laws and laws that limit labor unions’ ability to protect workers’ interests.

The tea party is the creation of strategists at the service of the oligarchy, which needs an attractive sheath for stale conservatism. It’s the vanguard of republican and democratic conservatism, and it now wields tremendous influence in society.

Isn’t, perhaps, senator Reid an ultraconservative himself: a democrat who has shown signs of racism when talking about Obama, and who represents the undocumented as entities of violence? He is a Mormon, an anti-abortion advocate, and a supporter of the imperialist war, having voted for the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Mitch McConnell, Senate minority leader for the Republican Party, is no different and has supported the conversion of Medicare into a kind of paid service.

The Democratic Party, as well as the Republican Party, has a radical right spokesman in the Senate. It’s a property alliance, no doubt.

In his speech last Saturday, Barack Obama tried to avoid the political costs of the agreement, but he knows that cutting the public expenditure to $2.1 billion dollars in 10 years cannot be achieved without reducing resources to social programs already in need.

Obama exhorted Congress to support the measures to cut taxes for the middle class and to extend the benefits for the unemployed. He pointed out that, in the short run, the proposal was to grow and generate jobs. In the United States, a president who seeks reelection says what the public wants to hear! License to lie?

The downgrade of the U.S. credit rating by Standard & Poor’s from AAA to AA +, is now a part of the Obama administration’s history, and its effects on the markets a symptom of this situation. Last Saturday, Obama said that “both parties are going to have to work together on a larger plan to get our nation’s finances in order.”

However, the issue is to reverse what the majority has attained without causing a flood of discontent that might threaten the integrity of the system. Obama has contributed with intelligence and charisma to this infamous project… He has forgotten that the political scam is unforgivable and that illegitimacy is not always a supported disguise.
