The cyclist preferred Spanish physiologists and trainers to take care of his body and physical training.
The Spanish government should immediately grant Lance Armstrong with Spanish nationality and a good residence wherever it may be. Since his political path died before even starting, it would not be outlandish if the governing party gave the cyclist from Austin, Texas, a place in its lists for future elections to Congress or the Senate. He would not be out of place here, along with other sportsmen that found in politics a second breath to their lives. It would be a generous gesture that would reward the American cyclist for everything he has done for Spain and its scientific industry, now that he is being accused of drug-taking by the American sports authorities.
Thanks to his pioneering spirit, the Catalan town of Girona has now become a haven for professional cyclists from all over the world since the seven-time Tour de France winner decided to establish his headquarters in this town more than 10 years ago.
After being treated by Italian doctor and trainer Michele Ferrari, Armstrong preferred Spanish physiologists and trainers to take care of his body and physical training. Thanks to his generosity, he granted the Spanish school of performance and scientific-sports research with a predominant place in the worldwide sphere. The tradition was already rooted and some years later, sportsmen from all over the world started to search for Spanish experts on performance. Some of them, such as Eufemiano Fuentes, Marcos Maynar, Jesús Losa or Alberto Beltrán, have become famous due to their constant appearance both in the annals of their field of expertise and in the police and judicial reports of Spanish inquiries against drug-taking.
However, once again, thanks to Armstrong’s generosity, the names of three other Spanish experts on performance – Luis García del Moral, Pedro Celaya and Pepe Martí – have been added to the top list in the USADA’s (U.S. Anti-Doping Agency) indictment.
