People have criticized former President Donald Trump for being arrogant, a womanizer, inconsiderate, reckless, tactless, impulsive, a liar, and a cheater in business … and for encouraging hatred and division. There’s some truth in all of this.
People have branded his opponent in the U.S. presidential election as incompetent (with no tangible achievements to show for her time in the various offices she has held), incoherent (because she promises something and also the opposite), abusive (according to many members of her staff), deceitful and rambling in her speeches. (Her speeches cause a lot of laughter because she lacks substance.) There’s also some truth in this criticism.
What is interesting is that as a result of focusing on such opinions, the voters and the public lose sight of what is most important.
One proposes what the other proposes. What tangible results have the two of them achieved on their path through the U.S. government?
Kamala Harris and today’s Democrats favor increased public spending and any excuse for it. They promote social welfare (which doesn’t lift anyone out of poverty) and are weak on controlling the influx of immigrants.
Under the current administration, inflation has increased to a level unprecedented in recent times, and that is what U.S. citizens worry about the most. There has been an escalation of armed conflict with the emphasis on the wars between Russia and Ukraine and between Palestine and Israel. And the current administration complied unquestioningly with the directives of the World Health Organization on managing the pandemic and compulsory experimental vaccines.
The sitting administration is much more liberal with respect to abortion, to the point where some have suggested it should be legal up to the ninth month.* And they are fascinated with the idea of gender choice (and indoctrinating it in the schools from a young age) and the obligation to use pronouns according to “how people feel when they come out,” so as not to offend them.
In addition, they believe that adolescents should be permitted to undergo a sex change without their parents’ consent. (That is, they believe that adolescents have the maturity and common sense to make that decision … but not to drink a beer or vote).
Trump proposes to reduce taxes on the middle class. During his term in office, he controlled inflation and there was not a single significant armed conflict in the world.
From the start, he questioned shutdowns and social distancing during the pandemic, because he believed they violated individual liberties.
He promotes free enterprise and incentives for action and strict control of immigration.
He is not opposed to abortion, provided it is done before the sixth week of pregnancy, and he wants to avoid gender indoctrination in schools and facilitating sex changes for children. The use of pronouns seems ridiculous to him.
All of that, which is often overlooked, is what is essential and implies, for the most powerful country and the rest of the world, the election of one candidate over the other and not how well we like them (because we are experts at deceiving ourselves).
*Editor’s note: The claim that the current administration is advocating for abortion through the ninth month of pregnancy is not verified.
