Women Drag Down Republican Candidate for U.S. President

The front-runner in the right-wing polls, Herman Cain, is alleged to have reached under a woman’s skirt when she came seeking work in his network of pizzerias in the 1990s. She also accused him of trying to force her to perform oral sex.

Sharon Bialek informed the press about this on Monday. She is the first woman claiming that Cain had molested her sexually who has decided to make such a move. Three other women have decided not to make their allegations public. In the 1990s, when Cain owned a network of pizzerias, two of these women reached a compromise with him — in exchange for compensation, they agreed to keep quiet and not to take a case to court.

Cain, who is fighting for the Republican nomination for the 2012 presidential election, is ahead of other right-wing candidates in the polls. He has more support than millionaire and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and current Texas Governor Rick Perry.

And despite his continuous foul-ups, too. He publicly admits that he does not know or care who the president of “Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan” is. He argues that not only do most taxes have to be removed, but also most of the state expenditures on social services and health care, because every American should cover these by him- or herself. And if they can’t, it means they are freeloaders.

Bialek’s allegations may, however, seriously affect Cain’s campaign; in American politics, accusations of inappropriate sexual behavior usually disqualify the candidate. One of the Republican congressmen had to resign from office in 2011 when it came into light that he had sent a photo of himself with a naked torso to a female student on a dating service. And he did not suggest at all that he wanted to have sex with her.*

The current accusations, consistently denied by Cain, did not cause his popularity among voters to decrease. Up to this moment, however, his voters were not familiar with the details of Cain’s behavior — these were revealed by Bialek.

Earlier, the media caught Cain in minor lies only. First, he could not recall that he had settled with the women accusing him of sexual harassment. Then, when he did remember, he lowered the compensation sum, wanting to marginalize the case. Finally, he claimed that one of the women cast allegations against him just because she had misunderstood his comparison of her to his wife. “I made a gesture saying you are the same height as my wife. And I brought my hand up to my chin saying: ‘My wife comes up to my chin,’” says Cain. The woman said through lawyers that it was nonsense and that she was considering making a public comment on the events. She did not, however, because of the settlement in which she committed to keep silent.
