After Obama Girl, “Obama Boy” Goes Crazy for America’s President

A comedian in skintight shorts sings his “crush” for Barack Obama, four years after a viral video premiered featuring a young woman in a bikini doing the same. It will take a lot more, no question, to reignite Obamamania.

If you liked Obama Girl in 2008, then you will surely love Obama Boy in 2012. Obamamania has certainly died out. Little by little, the magnitude of the economic crisis and the erosion of power have eroded the hope that Barack Obama would revive the United States. But, four years after a model declared her love for the American presidential candidate, a young man attempts to reignite that love in a video. In the same spirit of the former, the comedian, known as Justin Brown, thus sings his crush for the president who’s aspiring to a second term.

The bikinied bimbo is replaced by a young man in skintight shorts who thanks president Obama for his support of gay marriage. “Gay marriage will soon be the norm. I’m ecstatic,” sings Obama Boy, who is self-described as “jealous of the First Lady” Michelle Obama and winks several times at the camera. “You let us enroll in the military,” he adds, making a reference to the repeal of the 1993 law which forced gay men and women in the army to keep their sexual orientation quiet or be discharged.

Opinion on gay marriage divided

The American public’s opinion rests profoundly divided on the question of homosexual marriage, a question which rests in the states’, and not at all the president’s, will. By symbolically stating himself as for gay marriage this past May, while he previously was content to approve civil partnerships, Barack Obama has rallied the far-left Democrats and outdid old-guard rival Mitt Romney, according to Denis Lacorne, research director at CERI-Sciences Politiques, a specialist on the United States. But he also risks alienating certain moderates and independents, two crucial pools [of voters] for the election this coming November.

The presidential candidate’s team applauded the effort, despite that the latest polls rendered them a bit gloomy. But it’s not sure that this video has really helped Obama Boy’s hero. It’s not sure that [the video] will reach the height of viral fame reached by Obama Girl, who amassed 24 million clicks on YouTube. Indeed, what happened to her? As a civilian, Amber Lee Ettinger spawned competitors in France where a “Melenchon Girl” declared her love for the Left Front’s candidate during the presidential campaign. But the American girl didn’t wish to create a new video for Barack Obama this year. Since January 2010, her crush waned; it would not have endured the three customary years. In any case, according to Politico, she was “flattered” by the indirect homage accorded her by Obama Boy.
