It is one thing when Paul McCartney and James Bond come together to narrate implausible fictions and it’s another thing when people do not understand that they simply do not get it. Just one example is how the presidents of Mexico and the United States have shown absolute resistance to the most extreme circumstances in deciding that they are exceptions to the efficiency of masks. But if we were to give this attitude an anthem, although the situation is not worthy of the singer, it would be this McCartney song used at one of Donald Trump’s campaign events, as we have seen in several videos.
Obviously Donald cares about song rights and the overwhelming objections of so many musicians regarding the use of their songs as much as he cares about science, not to mention good taste. There are, though, cases in which music played in an inappropriate context makes the party thrower’s stance crystal clear. So bravo for that event in Ohio that not even the governor could attend because … he is sick with COVID-19.
It would be very comical, except for that the fact that people continue to die and Trump is more concerned with disparaging the postal system through which many could vote against (or for) him in November’s elections. It is very easy to make mistakes with sensitive issues these days. Like a few days ago when I was going to put on the shirt that I wear after running, which says, “Everything hurts and I’m dying.” It is funny when you are crawling around after running a marathon, not when it is your fault that people decide not to take care of themselves during a pandemic. What if people just listen to the science?
