Obama and Islamic State

The President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, announced that the country might attack the armed terrorist forces of the self-titled Islamic State, even without the approval of Congress.

Thursday’s announcement, which was made by the president himself to the leaders of the House of Representatives and the Senate, goes a step beyond the selective attacks that were announced recently against the terrorist group’s operations in Iraq and Syria — attacks that have spread blood and destruction since the offensive began against the governments and their armed forces in both countries.

The leaders of Islamic State proclaimed an Islamic Caliphate and their intention to expand its power to other countries such as Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Israel.

The organization is a fundamentalist group from the Sunni faction that wages war and terror on civilians in order to apply severe and outdated norms of coexistence wherever it operates.

At the moment, its warlike actions are unfolding in Iraq, where its military weakness is obvious following the Gulf War in which the U.S. military power ended Saddam Hussein’s tyranny. It has also entered Syria, which is facing a civil war with countless civilians who have been taking up arms for three years against the secular dictatorship of President al-Assad.

Obama, who advocated for troops in the area to leave due to public pressure, has once again fallen to the temptation of military intervention, bringing criticism, enormous expense and the risk of losing many lives. The power of the United States is a boomerang.
