Most of Mlinar’s ideas, the European Union candidate for The New Austria Party, originate in the United States.

As much as some members of The New Austria Party [NEOS] regarded EU candidate Angelika Mlinar’s statements at the ORF* press-hour as foolish, in reality, they were not. In fact, they concealed a programmatic concept: the EU as a duplication of the United States.

In terms of foreign policy and national security, she is fighting for the rapid formation of a European army, a body that already exists in a rudimentary fashion in the form of so-called "battlegroups." This would only be feasible, however, if the EU were to be transformed from an alliance of states into one federal state, just like the United States.

American values even characterize Mlinar’s design of the EU’s sociopolitical construction. For example, her policies demand for the privatization of health care, although this would bring an end to the equal treatment of all patients. The massive cost increases in hospitals are related to expensive equipment, and only a dominant regime can manage their financing.

This is similar to the proposal for the privatization of water, and there are countless documents that show where this would lead. Only regarding garbage collection is the debate still open, since in the absence of effective monitoring by public authorities and without their objection, the Italian mafia would illegally benefit from Austrian (privatized) garbage, and above all, its waste disposal.

The question is whether Mlinar also wishes to privatize Viennese municipal housing and abolish social housing. Her point of view is certainly clear. She wants to break away from the path of the social state, just as Barack Obama wants to breathe new life into U.S. society by way of "Obamacare."

The NEOS party now has to clarify if the party leadership shared Mlinar's view.
