If U.S. President-Elect Obama implements his promise to withdraw from Iraq, a total disaster will occur, sweeping away all vital necessities from our homeland. We will return to the prehistoric Dark Ages and perhaps become worse than Somalia.

Before explaining the implications of a U.S. withdrawal, we must first establish a stark reality - the Iraqi people's failure in leading themselves since the establishment of the modern state in 1921 and Iraq's lack of honest national politicians and parties. Thus, complete destruction is inevitable without the U.S. umbrella and its protection of the Iraqis from themselves and their tendency toward self-destruction.

The inevitable disasters that would follow the withdrawal are: the fast collapse of state systems, the looting by political parties and thieves, the immediate outbreak of wars between the Supreme Council and the Sadrists, the emergence of armed tribal groups in the Shiite cities and their engagement in gun battles with the parties, the escape of Dawa Party constituents from Iraq due to their vulnerability and fear, and the rebellion of Shiite cities, which will turn into independent states exposed to looting, theft, and murder.

In Sunni cities there will be bloody conflicts and wars between the Islamic Party and the Awakening Movements. Tribal groups and Baathists will emerge and bloody collective wars will break out. Sunni cities will become independent areas holding tribal and party loyalties, and al-Qaeda will return to these cities once again.

With respect to the Kurds, they will be subject to a strict blockade on the part of Turkey, Iran, and Syria. They will receive painful blows. We will witness the Kurds' absorption and the disappearance of their arrogant and vain tones. The possibility of genocide committed by Kurdish militias against Arabs, Turkmen, and Christians is not far-fetched. The intervention of Turkey will be required in order to occupy the cities of Mosul and Kirkuk.

And of course Iran will enter with all its weight and will indirectly occupy Iraq by way of their intelligence agents and their clients. It will control the oil wealth and try to create a Shiite Islamic state in central and southern Iraq. Syrian and other intelligence services will enter into Sunni areas in order to control them.

In short...in the event of a U.S. withdrawal, Iraq will be wiped off the map, ripped apart, destroyed, and lost forever. Therefore we must expedite the signing of the security agreement with the U.S. before the end of George W. Bush's period of rule. Iraq needs U.S. guardianship and assistance to manage its affairs and provide it with protection.
