“This is an impermissible interpretation of history that will damage the warming of the relations between Turkey and Armenia” – this was a statement Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan made in criticism of the president of the USA. The quote was in reference to Barack Obama’s statement on Friday, which concerned the anniversary of the beginning of the massacres of Armenians by Turks in 1915, which the President called a “great disaster” and “one of the greatest atrocities in the 20th century”. [Editor’s note: “great disaster” may be a translation of an Armenian phrase used by Obama.]
