How quickly time flies. It has been one year since Donald Trump rolled out the red carpet for Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska. The occasion: The war in Ukraine.
The details of whatever the two plotted is unknown. But, rumor has it that Ukraine, which was not at the table, was supposed to give up Donbas in exchange for vague security guarantees.
The possible calculation was that, in the end, Trump would have received the Nobel Peace Prize, while Putin could calmly continue taking over the rest of Ukraine.
But, both sides were disappointed. On one hand, a year after Alaska, there is no sign of peace. And on the other hand, Ukraine is now in a much better position and increasingly putting the Kremlin on the defensive with its drone strikes.
