The Plot of the Republicans Against the Economy

Since the Republicans can’t beat Obama by themselves, some analysts say they will sabotage the economy, which is the only way to weaken the president. For example, once the price of gas went up, polls ranked Obama at 44 percent. Surveys by The New York Times and The Washington Post find those in favor of Obama to waver between 41 and 46 percent. The Pew Center found different numbers: 54 percent for Obama and 42 percent for Romney, who has racked in delegates but is incapable of winning the primaries in a decisive manner.

The only way to beat Obama, according to some, is the sink the economy. The Republicans find comfort in the numbers of The Washington Post, which found a link between the price of gas and Barack Obama’s popularity. And why is the price of gas going up while U.S. production is at its peak in a decade? It is because the call to war against Iran in the conservative ranks has triggered speculative fervor. So the GOP is calling for more war to further its own interests, even if it is the citizens who pay the price. The GOP no longer views this as a hindrance.

Unemployment figures have been good these recent months, falling to a decent 8.3 percent. The public sector is the only one that’s dragging. Here the conservatives can contribute, but by imposing drastic budget cuts, they create massive cuts in the number of staff employed by state and local communities.

On the federal level, Republican leaders John Boehner and Mitch McConnell have already hinted that they want to review the budget agreements obtained with the Democrats in order to make greater cuts in the government budget. And the Transport Act, which if adopted could create three million jobs, passed in the Senate 85 votes to 11, but may soon hit an iceberg in the House of Representatives. Therefore, eight months before the election, everything is therefore in place to sabotage the economy with the support of Romney, Santorum and company.
